The Monash Research Training Program Scholarship (RTP) is an Outstanding funding opportunity issued by the Australian Government enabling both domestic and International students to pursue Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees.
The Monash Research Training Program Scholarship is designed to reduce the financial constraints of higher education by giving a stipend for living costs and additional support for eligible students.

The Monash Research Training Program provides The RTP Stipend, a living allowance to students on research programs at Monash University.
The Monash Research Training Program,gives Indigenous Australian students eligibility to the Monash Research Training Program Stipend to Indigenous under the Monash Indigenous Research Scholarships. The scholarship is awarded in four rounds annually, with the total value set at $36,063 per year (2025 rate). The number of scholarships offered varies based on available funding and applicant merit.
Courses Offered are Arts, Biomedical Science, Design Education, Educational and Developmental Psychology and Philosophy, Engineering Science, Fine Art, Philosophy, Reproductive Sciences, Surgery Program Period differs according to your course.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Monash Research training program Scholarship, applicants must be one of the following:
- Citizenship: Must be an Australian citizen,a New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident, an Australian humanitarian visa holder, An international student.
- Meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process requirements.
- Fulfill Monash’s English language proficiency standards: Applicants must have high grades not less than the standard of Monash Research Training Program Scholarship.
- Be undertaking a Research Doctorate or Research Masters degree at Monash University .
- Students engaged in Joint Research Awards with Monash as their home institution are also eligible.
Application Procedures
- Check Eligibility Criteria: Applicants of Monash Research Training Program Scholarship should ensure they meet all requirements and, if new, must secure an invitation to apply from the relevant faculty before beginning their application.
- Application: Applications for the RTP Stipend are submitted alongside course applications. All Monash University campuses provide a personal site where applicants can apply for admission to just PhD programs, research master’s programs, course transfers, and/or centrally managed scholarships. Currently, Monash University Australia’s Graduate Research Admission and Scholarship Application platform is used to submit applications for admission and centrally controlled scholarships for both domestic and international applicants.
- Send in a statement of interest:An expression of interest (EOI) must be sent to the appropriate faculty or academic unit before you can apply for a desired research degree.Every faculty has a distinct EOI procedure, so please careful.
- Automatic Acceptance: No different scholarship applications are required, as eligible candidates are automatically considered.
