Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the ADB-JSP, applicants must
- Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country (No developed country included).
- Have gained admission to an approved master’s course at a Designated Institution: Applicants can Only apply for scholarship If they have been granted admission.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record: Applicants should ensure they have high grades as candidates with low grades will not be considered.
- Have at least two years of full-time work experience after completing their undergraduate degree.
- Must be under 35 years old (exceptions are made in rare cases).
- Must be proficient in English for academic purposes.
- Agree to return to their home country after completing their studies and contribute to its development.
- Not be an ADB employee, close relative of an ADB employee, or staff of an ADB Designated Institution.
Application Procedures
Applicants should take the following steps:
- Select an ADB Designated Institution and request an application form.
- Complete and submit the application form with all required documents (academic records, proof of income, family income certificate, etc.).
- Await evaluation by the institution, which will shortlist candidates.
- The institution will send nominations to ADB for final selection. Asian development bank (ADB) reviews applications and recommends scholars to the Japanese executive director.
- ADB informs institutions of the selected scholars, and the institution notifies applicants.
