Trustee Scholarship Program is an exceptional award given to approximately 20 students annually. Trustee Scholarship is focused on students who have portrayed superior academic excellence, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Trustee Scholars are reconked for their exceptional grades, often holding a 4.0 GPA, and they also stand out for their accomplishments and experiences that go beyond the typical student profile.
Trustee Scholarship Program issues a full undergraduate tuition coverage along with mandatory student fees which can be renewable for four years as long as Candidates meet specific requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Trustee Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a high school senior applying for admission to an undergraduate program at Boston University: Candidates are not allowed to be junior students as they will not be considered.
- Submit Application by the December 1 deadline: Candidates are expected to submit applications before designated time.
- Complete and submit the Trustee Scholarship essay as part of the Common Application.
- Demonstrate a combination of academic excellence and leadership qualities, as well as a passion for intellectual and creative pursuits.
Application Procedures
The application process are in steps, which are:
- Submit your Common Application along with all required materials for admission to an undergraduate degree program at Boston University by the December 1 deadline.
Complete the Trustee Scholarship essay: Candidates are expected to choose from two thought-provoking prompts and submit responses as part of your Common Application. The essay should be no more than 600 words on these topics:
- Nobel laureate and BU professor Elie Wiesel once said: “There is divine beauty in learning… To learn means to accept the postulate that life did not begin at my birth. Others have been here before me, and I walk in their footsteps. The books I have read were composed by generations of fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, teachers and disciples. I am the sum total of their experiences, their quests.” Is there a book, film, podcast or life- experience that has made you feel more connected to your personal history/identity, and what is the most important thing you learned from it?.
- Describe a time when you felt out of your comfort zone or marginalized in a situation. How did you respond to that moment and how has it informed your actions moving forward?
- Make sure to include any other supporting documents required for your application to BU: Candidates are expected to submit applications alongside important documents.
