Eligibility Criteria
To be regarded eligible for the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation, applicants must:
- Nationality: Be a non-Japanese citizen(international students only), Japanese students are not eligible for the Scholarship.
- Age limitations: Be under 30 years old(for Master’s) or under 35 years old (for PhD).
- Not be enrolled in a professional graduate school(unless they can submit a research plan).
- Willingness to contribute to community Development: Have a strong intention to contribute to their home country after graduation.
- Have a deep understanding of international goodwill and cultural exchange.
- Japanese Proficiency: Be able to speak Japanese at a conversational level (interviews will be conducted in Japanese).
- Not Required: Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) or IELTS/TOEFL
Application Procedures
Interested Applicants are to follow these steps correctly:
- Login into the portal: Access the Online Application Portal on the official website.
Fill out the Application Form And upload all required documents such as:
- Academic Transcripts(undergraduate & graduate)
- Scholarship Application Form (download from the official website).
- Research Plan(2–4 pages, covering your research outline, schedule, and goals).
- Letter of Recommendation (from an academic supervisor).
- Certificate of Enrollment or Admission Letter Japanese or English Translation(for documents in other languages).
- Important: All documents must be uploaded online in Japanese or English.
- Submit the Application Before the Deadline: Applicants should endeavour to submit applications before the designated deadline so as to be considered early.
- Receive an Application Number(this will be used for tracking results): There’s a need to get an application number in the portal so an applicant can track results easily.
- Shortlist/Review: After review, Successful Candidates will be notified,An Applicant should patiently wait for the Interview Invitation.
Benefits of Honjo International Scholarship Foundation
Candidates are entitled to these benefits:
Financial Benefits:
- Monthly Stipend: ¥200,000 per month (1–2 years) .
- ¥180,000 per month (3 years) ¥150,000 per month (4–5 years).
- Travel expenses for international conferences: All expenses that surrounds candidates traveling out and within learning environment. All research expenses are covered too.
