For the academic year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers scholarships to non-resident foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE)*. These scholarships are designed to boost international cultural, scientific, and technological collaboration, advocate for Italian language and culture, and bolster Italy’s global economy (in alignment with Law 288/55 and its subsequent modifications).
These scholarships are aimed at individuals seeking to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at legally recognized Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and private.
Ongoing Scholarships: Denmark Government Scholarships for Non-EU Students
Scholarship details:
Tuition Fees Recipients may potentially be exempt from enrollment and tuition fees, subject to the policies of each University. However, exemptions do not apply to courses in Italian language and culture, for which enrolment fees must be paid.
Health and Medical Insurance Grantees are covered by a health and medical/accident insurance provided by MAECI throughout the entire duration of the scholarship. This coverage, however, does not extend to events caused by pre-existing physical or pathological conditions.
Financial Grant Recipients will receive a monthly stipend of 900 Euros on a quarterly basis, deposited into their Italian bank account.
Scholarship Duration The duration of the scholarship may be six or nine months based on the type of course. Renewals are granted solely to applicants who demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility:
Academic Qualifications Applications may only be submitted by foreign students not residing in Italy and by Italian citizens living abroad (IRE)* who hold appropriate academic qualifications necessary for enrollment in an Italian University/Institute. More details can be found at this link.
Age Limits Applicants for Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programmes/Italian Language and Culture advanced Courses should be of the age of majority and should not exceed 28 years of age by the deadline of this call (born after June 9th, 1994), with the exception of renewals.
Applicants for PhD Programmes should be of the age of majority and should not exceed 30 years of age by the deadline of this call (born after June 9th, 1992), with the exception of renewals.
Applicants for Research Projects under academic supervision should be of the age of majority and should not exceed 40 years of age by the deadline of this call (born after June 9th, 1982).
Language Skills and Proficiency For Italian-taught courses, applicants must provide certification of their proficiency in Italian language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Candidates who were enrolled in an Italian-taught course at the University may submit a language certification issued by a language teacher of the University department.
For English-taught courses, applicants must provide proof of proficiency in the English Language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). A self-certification may be accepted for candidates from countries where English is an official language and who are applying for courses held entirely in English. Proof of proficiency in Italian is not required for courses entirely taught in English.
For Italian language and culture courses, applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in the Italian language. The minimum level required is A2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
For PhD programs and Research projects under academic supervision, no proof of language proficiency is required.
