The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, Both MSc and PhD programmes are covered by the scholarship; the PhD programme in the UK is currently only offered as a Split-Site Programme through the PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies (CPESK), Kaduna, in association with partner universities. These include Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions to qualify for the PTDF Overseas Scholarship:
MSc Applicants:
- Hold a Second Class Upper (2.1) degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience.
- Have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Be computer literate.
- Possess five O-level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Submit a 500-word statement of purpose, explaining the relevance of their study to the petroleum industry.
- Provide a National Identity Number (NIN) and verify it before applying.
PhD Applicants:
- Have completed NYSC and be computer literate.
- Hold a Second Class Lower (2.2) undergraduate degree and a good postgraduate degree.
- Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (maximum of five pages), outlining objectives and methodology.
- Lecturers must submit a confirmation letter from their Vice Chancellor stating that they are not receiving any other scholarships.
- Provide a verified National Identity Number (NIN).
