The Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program offers a special chance to hone their business reporting abilities. The Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program is held at the university’s Hyde Park campus, where participants will interact with some of the most accomplished economists and political economists while taking classes and taking part in events.
Scholarship Overview
The Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program provides a thorough educational experience and runs for 12 weeks, from March 19 to May 31, 2025. Participants will audit classes, attend lectures, and engage in workshops tailored to business and political economy. Additionally, they will be able to choose classes based on their interests. Past courses taught by renowned professors include “The Firm and the Non-Market Environment”and “Crony Capitalism”. Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for the program, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

- Journalists who are currently employed and have previous media industry experience are eligible to apply for the program.

Application Procedures

- Get your CV or resume ready: Emphasize your accomplishments and experience in journalism.
- Submit three articles: Provide copies of the three news stories you have written. Translations should be included if they are not in English. If you are a radio or television journalist, include links to your work and transcriptions in English.
- Write personal essays: Send in two essays, no more than 500 words each, outlining your program objectives and your passions for political and economic economy.
- Obtain recommendation letters: Two letters of recommendation from people who have seen your work should be included.
- Prove English proficiency: If English isn’t your native language, submit proof like a TOEFL or IELTS score, or a letter from an employer confirming your language skills.
