    Scholarship Overview

    The University of Freiburg EPOS Scholarship, offered under the prestigious “Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst” (DAAD) programme, is aimed at equipping future environmental leaders with the necessary tools for sustainable development. Recognized as a development-related postgraduate course, the MEG programme has been carefully selected by DAAD for funding under its EPOS scheme.

    University of Freiburg EPOS Scholarship covers tuition and living costs for select candidates who meet both DAAD and MEG programme requirements. Applicants must apply a full year in advance, with the same set of documents used to apply for both the scholarship and the academic programme.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the University of Freiburg EPOS Scholarship, applicants must:

    • Be citizens of a developing country listed on the DAC list.
    • Hold an academic degree obtained within six years prior to the application (as of October 2025).
    • Have at least two years of relevant professional experience after completing a bachelor’s degree. Voluntary work or internships do not count.
    • Demonstrate above-average academic performance (top third of class).
    • Not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application.
    • In cases where the applicant already holds a master’s degree, they must justify why a second postgraduate programme is essential for their career or development goals.

    Application Procedures

    Interested Applicants should follow these steps:

    • Submit an online application through the MEG programme portal (available from 1 July 2025).
    • Ensure all required documents including academic transcripts, degree certificates, proof of professional experience, CV, motivation letter, and DAAD application form are included.
    • Apply by the strict deadline: 15 October 2025.
    • Wait for the two-stage selection process: the MEG programme first shortlisted applicants, followed by DAAD’s final review and approval.
