Eligibility Criteria
To be considered eligible for this Scholarship, Applicants must fulfill these:
- Students should submit a summary of the proposed field of study in their applications for doctoral or postdoctoral courses.
- Students who are interested in studying the performing arts should, if at all possible, provide audio or video cassettes of their performances.
- Candidates must be sufficiently proficient in both speaking and understanding English.
- Applications submitted to ICCR directly by students or through regional embassies or high commissions in New Delhi will not be considered.
- Students with no prior experience studying in India will be given preference.
- Applications for admission to MBBS/MD and Dentistry/Nursing degrees will not be accepted.
- Candidates should be aware that Indian universities and educational institutions have their own qualifying requirements that must be met because they are autonomous and independent.
- Additionally, a university’s approval of an application does not ensure admission. Only once admittance has been verified by ICCR is a scholarship granted.
- Students need to have the appropriate visa. Students should confirm with the Indian Embassy or High Commission that they are issued the appropriate visa. According to standards set forth by the Government of India, a scholar will be deported to their home country if they arrive without the required visa and their actual admission to the university or institute does not occur.
- The scholars should ask the Indian Diplomatic Mission in their country for a comprehensive briefing about living conditions in India, the specifics of the scholarship, and the kind and length of the course they have been admitted to before leaving for India.
- It is recommended that scholars notify the Indian Embassy or High Commission well in advance of their intended itinerary so that ICCR can prepare for their reception and other needs.
- It is recommended that students bring cash to cover unforeseen expenses when they arrive in India.
- Scholarship recipients should carry all original documentation of their qualifications with them so that the relevant college or university may verify them when they are admitted.
