Scholarship Overview
The UTC International Student Scholarship is designed to recognize and support academically strong and engaged international students.
The scholarship award is distributed in two installments: one in the fall semester and another in the spring semester. This financial assistance is aimed at helping students cover tuition and university fees, making it easier for them to focus on their academic and personal growth. To ensure a fair selection process, the Center for Global Education appoints a scholarship committee to review applications. Factors such as academic performance, standardized test scores (TOEFL or IELTS), on-campus residency, and participation in the Go Global Themed Living Community are taken into consideration.
A key component of the application is the “Why UTC?” project, which allows students to creatively express their reasons for choosing UTC.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UTC International Student Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a first-time international student applying for an undergraduate degree at UTC.
- Have completed the UTC international student application and received an acceptance letter along with a UTCID.
- Be an F-1 visa applicant or holder.
- Maintain full-time enrollment with at least 12 credit hours per semester.
- Earn a minimum 2.5 GPA in the first semester to receive the second scholarship installment.
- Actively participate in extracurricular activities organized by the Center for Global Education during the first semester.
- Students currently receiving other scholarships from UTC are not eligible.
- Students with Code of Conduct or Honor Code violations are disqualified.

Application Procedures
- Apply for Admission: Complete the UTC international application at [utc.edu/apply](https://www.utc.edu/apply), pay the $30 application fee, and submit all required documents. Once admitted, you will receive an acceptance letter and your UTCID.
- Complete the “Why UTC?” Project: Submit a creative project explaining why you chose UTC. This can be in the form of a 3-minute video, a short presentation, an essay (500-750 words), an animation, or a poster. If submitting multimedia content, upload it online (e.g., YouTube) and provide the link in your application.
- Submit the Scholarship Application: Complete and submit the online scholarship application form.
- Review Process: The selection committee will evaluate applications based on eligibility, academic performance, and the “Why UTC?” project. Students must complete all three steps for their application to be considered. Since funding is limited, only students entering in the fall semester are eligible.
